Spanish Championship in Orienteering for Schools

The participants came in representation of either their autonomous community or their school and had been previously classified from their own Championships in Orienteering.

There were 8 students ( 4 girls and 4 boys) that went representing CIG to Galicia.  All 8 of these orienteers are winners of the Andalusian Championship in Orienteering for Schools, which was held in Antequera this past April.  A few even came as representatives of the Andalusian team of Orienteering.

The official races for the Championship for Schools were held on Friday and Saturday.  All of our students did a stellar job, gave their all and were able to learn from their mistakes.  It was an amazing experience for them as the vibe that is present at these types of races is incredible due to the level of the participants as well as for the level of the races themselves.

Our students did a brilliant job completing the races and learning many things along the way landing them 8th place in the Championship.  Our women´s Infantry team did exceptionally well landing first in both races.  We are very proud of them for having been awarded the title of Champions of Spain in Orienteering for Schools the Infantry category.  It was another victory to be added to our repretoire from the title of Champions of Spain in the category of Alevín Mixto from 2014.

Due to being awarded the title of Champions of Spain this year our students now automatically classify for the World Championship in Orienteering for Schools, which will be held in Estonia in April 2019.  This will be by far a challenge that our students will take on with a lot of responsibility, hard-work and perseverance.

Now they must continue training and advancing in this incredible sport in order to be able to meet the challanges and do this adventure head on.  Good luck and all the best to you!!!
