Actividades Extraescolares

Aiming to achieve these goals, from the Colegio Internacional de Granada, we encourage our students to participate  in various social projects. We are pleased to announce that we are opening ourselves to new experiences we consider very enriching: THE DEBATES.

The debates are powerful activities where the students not only acquire theoretical knowledge, but also shape their own opinions, ideas and values ??on a subject to be discussed. Students later take part in a debate, either with their classmates or with students from other schools. The debates favor personal growth, confidence in public speaking, teamwork, and stress management, not to mention the motivation which is built for public life, resolutions, and simulations of real decision processes at the local, national or European level.

A short time ago in January 2019, a group of 6 students from the school participated in the prestigious regional session of the European Youth Parliament in Malaga over the course of a weekend.  Our involvement with this program began with this particular activity.

Then, after this first experience, on February 15, we started the internal preparation of this project at the school. We had the pleasure of enjoying a motivating talk about the importance of democracy today and broached the topic chosen for our first debate: CLIMATE CHANGE. The students of 3rd and 4th of ESO attended this talk.

Thank you very much to the speakers: Sergio Hinojosa and Antonio Fernández Montoya for their words and the interesting debate which transpired after their address. Many questions have been raised, along with an interest to continue looking for answers to them.  Topics emphasized include the participation of young people in public life, the importance of the pillars of democracy, the causes of climate change, and what each of us can do to reduce our environmental impact.
