CONVIVENCIA en CIG

The objective that we´ve had is to keep dialogues always open.   This teaches our students who to communicate effectively as well as learning how to better listen and appreciate one another.

We now also do general assemblies where the entire school gets together and shares all the current news of what is happening here at CIG.

It is great to see how far this has come.  The adults have to mediate less and less as the students are the ones taking on this responsibilites.  They communicate much better, think up solutions and consequences to issues that come up.

This past Friday we all got together on the grass  and talked about how to lower to noise issue in the dining room.  The noise that is created is quite great and it is detrimental to all.  An idea was thought up where students can receive green points and exchange them for a meal of their choosing (of course with Paloma´s approval).  The students decided to create silence supervisors.  On Mondays we willl choose which children will clean the the dining tables and be the silence supervisors.  We started this this week and it is starting to work brilliantly.

We also rewarded the students who have put in extra effort in eating all their food as it is important in order to maintain a healthy diet.

What seems to be working best is making the children responsible for themselves.  They choose their personal goals and slowly they are starting to achieve them.
