This type of recreational activities, integrated into the academic curriculum, are part of our center’s methodological approach, which focuses on experiential learning and on stimulating critical thinking, teamwork, and student autonomy.

As a bilingual school in Granada, we work every day to ensure that our students not only understand the theoretical concepts of the subjects but are also capable of applying them in real-world contexts, developing skills that will be useful in their personal, academic, and professional lives.

A different activity to consolidate knowledge

The proposal for “El Precio Justo” arose with the aim of closing the Economics term in a different way, but without losing focus on learning. The game was designed by the area’s teachers to review key concepts of microeconomics and macroeconomics, seen during the previous months, and which are fundamental in the secondary and baccalaureate education courses.

The game’s operation was very simple and was divided into three phases:

  • The students answered multiple-choice questions related to the content of previous exams: supply and demand, types of markets, inflation, GDP, taxes, among other essential topics.
  • If the answer was correct, they got a clue related to the real price of a specific product.
  • Finally, with the help of all the accumulated clues, the objective was to guess the exact price of the product, testing both their knowledge and their deduction skills.
  • The most notable aspect was that each stage of the game was directly linked to the syllabus content, making the students think strategically, apply what they had learned, and collaborate with their classmates to reach the best possible solution.

An innovative approach to the teaching of economics

Economics is often thought of as an abstract, difficult subject disconnected from everyday reality. However, activities like this demonstrate that understanding how prices, the market, or taxes work can be not only accessible but also fun.

In our bilingual institute in Granada, we understand that knowledge should not only be transmitted from the book or the blackboard but should be experienced, questioned, and lived. That’s why we integrate active pedagogical tools that allow the content to come to life.

Furthermore, this type of dynamic reinforces other very important cross-curricular skills: decision-making under pressure, effective communication, logical reasoning, and strategic thinking. All of this was developed in a cooperative environment, with a cheerful, relaxed, and participatory atmosphere, where mistakes were seen as an opportunity to continue learning.

    An experience to remember

For the students of 4th year of ESO and Bachillerato, participating in this activity was a very positive experience. Throughout the game, there were moments of enthusiasm, surprise, and also a lot of camaraderie. At the end, many agreed that it had been an ideal way to review concepts without the usual pressure of an exam.

The teachers, for their part, highlighted how the students managed to retain and successfully apply complex content thanks to a dynamic that encouraged their active involvement. And that, precisely, is what we seek in our educational project: for students to become protagonists of their own learning.

In a bilingual institute in Granada like ours, we encourage students to learn not only the theoretical concepts but also to put them into practice and face problems from a critical and problem-solving approach.

Economic education from a practical and close perspective

Economic education is fundamental for the formation of responsible citizens, capable of understanding the functioning of the society in which they live. In the current context, where financial decisions are present in everyday life, from managing a family budget to understanding an economic news item, mastering this content from an early age is more important than ever.

That’s why, in our Colegio Internacional de Granada, which is committed to comprehensive education, we incorporate these skills into the curriculum from a close, adapted, and connected approach to the real environment. Understanding what the CPI (Consumer Price Index) is, how GDP is calculated, or what a rise in the minimum wage implies, ceases to be something distant and becomes useful and applicable knowledge.

And if you can also learn while playing and enjoying yourself… even better.

    Conclusion:

The “El Precio Justo en Economía” experience is just one more example of how, from our school in Granada, we continue to explore new ways to make the classroom a dynamic, flexible, and student-centered space.

As an institute in Granada committed to educational innovation, we know that motivation is one of the keys to academic success. And when students feel like an active part of the learning process, the results are much more significant.

Thanks to the enthusiasm of the students, the creativity of the teachers, and an educational vision that values playfulness as a pedagogical tool, this review day has been a true success. We will continue working along these lines, integrating academic rigor with the excitement of learning by doing.
