From the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, the idea of celebrating Europe Day 2024 was proposed in collaboration with the Andalusian Council of the European Movement (CAME). The Ambassador Schools met with representatives from the Andalusian government and  European Commission scientists in Seville at the San Telmo Palace, headquarters of the presidency of the Andalusian Government.

For the content of this Europe Day commemorative event 2024, three areas were identified as being of great importance and concern both for the EU and for young people. These are: strategic autonomy of the EU (Are we autonomous in essential supplies? From chips to energy); the challenges of Artificial Intelligence (the EU has finished making regulations for an unknown territory that is advancing so quickly we cannot foresee its confines) and climate change (From the European Green Deal all aspects of our lives are affected by the climate crisis, which fortunately future generations are increasingly aware of). In the weeks prior to Europe Day celebration, these topics were raised in class to strengthen knowledge and raise doubts (in this case among five 4th year of Secondary students) on these topics.

The event began with a contribution from the President of the Andalusian government in the assembly hall. With the European anthem being performed by the Barenboim-Said orchestra in the background, the European flag was raised outside the San Telmo Palace. Once the informative sessions began, the three proposed topics were discussed in lively conversations among the young people attending, with representatives from the government and the scientific community posing questions, taking advantage of the fact that Andalusia is home to one of the European Commission research headquarters, the Joint Research Center (JRC), which is now celebrating its 30th anniversary. The day concluded with a small appetizer along with the exchange of opinions in conversations between students and teachers from different Ambassador Schools.
