On Tuesday May 11, CIG received a very special visit. Students from 4th year of Secondary and 1st year of Upper Secondary learned about the impressive marine biodiversity and the grave danger that the coral reef faces in Punta de la Mona, Herradura, thanks to Marina Palacios, marine biologist and head of SOS Corales. Concepts such as “Coral Reef Nursery” and “whitening” were presented to everyone there through a hands-on workshop where students could touch real specimens, a necessary connection which reminded us how essential water is to life and our need to protect it now more than ever.
