This is the name of the project which began this year at our school. Taking advantage of the school´s wonderful location in nature, we hope to create a research and conservation platform for our students.
Getting the whole school involved and working with 5 different groups: pollinators, birds, bats, aquatic and research species, we will form various research groups to make CIG and its surroundings friendlier places for the fauna living here. We will make learning about our environment accessible to all, through a much more immersive experience. Additionally, institutions like the University of Granada will get involved to encourage students to do science with high quality scientific standards.
In this first phase, actions such as building nesting boxes for birds or bats as well as creating a zoo botanic path through the Cañadas residentia park and planting gardens for butterflies are some of the activities which are the starting point for our school.
Already in action, you can find “Your Breakfast So They Can Fly” where exclusively designed mugs and bookmarks are on sale in collaboration with Briznal, an NGO based in Madrid which is dedicated to the protection and rehabilitation of nocturnal birds of prey which suffered the worst part of the Filomena cold front, which passed through the refuge where they have been working for more than 30 years. To help the organization get back on track, visit this website to contribute to helping these beneficial yet threatened animals. https://spark.adobe.com/page/8j12ikdl6qAfn/ For a just small contribution, you can make a huge difference.
