Speaking about earthquakes is in style in Granada and what better moment is there to work on the structures unit in Technology class than now?
Third year of Compulsory Secondary Education students participated in a multidisciplinary project in which they researched the earthquakes Spain has had in the last 12 months.
Students were given the challenge of designing and constructing a structure which wouldn’t collapse during an earthquake. For this, we invited Miguel Ángel Salvatierra, architect, to speak with us and he taught us about the characteristics and norms which a seismic resistant structure should have.
All of the groups achieved their goal and had a great time trying out each of the designs in our “seismic simulator” and making sure their structures did not collapse.
Thank you, Miguel Ángel, for sharing this experience with us.
